Did you know that modifying your microbiome can help with weight loss?

Without a doubt, many of our patients are wanting to lose fat. They come to us because they’re unsure of how to go about it. To be honest, we don’t see the people who know they need to eat better and move more. We see the people who are doing the right things, but it just doesn’t happen. They come to us because they’re frustrated by a lack of results.

For some, it can be as simple as calories in being less than calories out. This assumes there are no other factors at play, but for the people we see, this is often not so simple. The major flaw with this equation is that it doesn’t account for hormone imbalance, stress hormones, micronutrient deficiency and this articles topic, the MICROBIOME (gut bug balance).

The collection of microorganisms in your gut can play a big role in your overall health, including your weight. By increasing the amount of beneficial bacteria and decreasing the amount of harmful bacteria in your gut, you may be able to promote weight loss.

So how do you know if your gut is getting in the way?

Symptoms can include, reflux, indigestion, bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhoea, food intolerances and the list goes on….

So how can you modify your microbiome for weightloss.

Our most tried and true approach is with the use of ‘Gutright’.

The ‘gutright’ protocol is a 10 day protocol that works to reset your gut bug balance by transitioning your gut bugs. To do this you take ‘Gutright’ three times a day for 10 days and ideally follow the ‘Specific Carb Diet’ during the 10 days (which isn’t a low-carb diet).

Here’s how it works:

Increasing beneficial bacteria: Studies have shown that people who are overweight or obese tend to have different gut bacteria than people who are lean. Increasing the amount of beneficial bacteria, such as Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus, may help to promote weight loss.

Decreasing harmful bacteria: Harmful bacteria, such as Firmicutes, have been linked to weight gain and obesity. Decreasing the amount of harmful bacteria in the gut may help to promote weight loss.

Improving gut health: A healthy gut is important for overall health, and can play a role in weight management. By promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria and decreasing the growth of harmful bacteria, you can help to improve the overall health of your gut and potentially promote weight loss.

Increasing production of short-chain fatty acids: Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are produced by some of the beneficial bacteria in the gut, and have been shown to have a number of health benefits, including promoting weight loss. By increasing the production of SCFAs in the gut, you may be able to promote weight loss.

We’ve been using this protocol as a weight loss kickstarter ever since we first learnt about the power of ‘Gutright’ – it just works! I always wondered how those people can ‘eat whatever they like’ and not gain weight, and there’s those who look at food and their waistline seems to bulge. This is one potential explanation!

So if you’ve been struggling and want an approach that you haven’t yet tried, this could be for you. As a side note, we also recommend this for people who have been successful at losing fat, but want to avoid the rebound when things don’t remain so strict. It’s those same bugs that help pile the pounds back on!

What have you got to lose (other than fat)?

Are you up for the ‘Gutright’ challenge?  Perhaps you want to go all in with a friend or family member? If you are, remember we have our double-deal ‘Gutright’ which gets you 2 Gutrights with 15% off.

NB. If you don’t already have a copy, we supply a copy of the ‘Specific Carb Diet’.
